Greetings!
I thought I'd start this off by asking those of you who attended the Alchemy seminar, "What has been the weekend's effect or influence on you over the last week?" I've been focused on trying to catch up after not being home much the past few weeks, so have been limited to "reflection while walking around." I've been keeping the image of my emblem active in my mind, but have yet to have new insights about it. I think that will take some Active Imagination. I'm also continuing on the reading. Not very profound stuff here, but at least I'm getting the ball rolling.

We are a group that meets annually to explore areas of Carl Jung’s work. Our workshops are designed to explore and illuminate unconscious reality where wholeness and true healing can occur through the process of individuation. When we have done our individual work, “all the world become our brothers and sisters”. Our ultimate goal is to raise our own consciousness and that of the world family such that a critical human mass may help incline humankind toward the good.

I was sorry I missed the closing circle on Monday. These weekends are always rejuvenating for me, and I have learned valuable things form each member of the group over the years.
Last weekend was my daughter Hollis's 15th birthday. I hosted the family birthday dinner, with the only attendees being Hollis's father, his new wife, his mother, my son, and (thankfully1) one of Hollis's friends. I had a lot of anxiety leading up to this event, but I tried to channel it by thinking in terms of the "alchemical fire" that would make me stronger, and envisioned myself hardening to the negative emotions that surround the remarriage and etc. I was able to be in more of an observer position, "steeled" if you will to the barbed comments. It went well. I was surprised to find myself in a very black mood the next day. i guess it makes sense as part of the process.

What a wonderful way to apply our experience! I suppose you could think of the "black mood" as the nigredo -- part of the process as you say. Thanks for using the blog to share this, Laura. I think having a dialog instead of just a post will give others a good idea of how we can use this. Take care, and keep in touch!
